Lime green flowered capri pants… they’re a bad thing

The problem with being a slacker is that so much happens in between entries that I can barely bring myself to write about. Here’s the Low Attention Span Version:

Went golfing with Penny and Mary. I sucked Bob Dole’s Penis for the first 5 holes. Actually, I rock out like No Doubt during the driving portion of the hole, mostly because I hide betwixt my curves a veritable powerhouse of Grrl Golf plutonium or something. Probably the ‘or something’. I got to feel all important when my golf bag began to play Beethoven’s ‘Ode To Joy’ and had my golf chicas say ‘Is that you?’. And it was. Or more specifically, it was Jake, calling to tell me about Lesbian Day at Ikea, which is apparently Friday. In case you’re wondering. I then proceeded to kick serious golf ass on the remaining four holes. Eat that, Tiger Woods.

Then Penny and I went to swim at Club Parentals. It was lovely. I showed her my blue toenail polish. She was impressed. I showed her how to pick up a dive stick in her teeth. A moment was shared by all. Then we scootled to do various Make Beautiful kind of stuff, and then met Mary for dinner at the restaurant where my mom works. She wasn’t there because it was her birthday and I am a bad bad daughter, eating dinner with my friends on my Mom’s birthday. Bah. She went out of town, so just you stop crucifying me on the Carrie Fisher Tree of Shame, ok? Just stop.

I had a combination of grilled chicken ravioli and wild mushroom ravioli with a rose’ sauce, if you must know. And Hogue Riesling, which is fabulous. It doesn’t taste like a grown up wine, so I’m all for that. I think if they bottled Kool-Aid and put a snooty label and some year vaguely in the 90’s, I’d be really happy because there wouldn’t be all this pressure to drink stuff that tastes vaguely like fermented hair spray.

We will serve no Sharkleberry Finn before its time.

And I got to feel uber important, as I got called during dinner no less than 7 times. I think the other diners thought I was maybe a rock star. I might have been able to pull it off if the lady who used to change my diapers wasn’t waiting on us.

Anyway, then we were all off to the Bad Bar. We met up with Carissa and a ‘pity invite’. I brought along Mo, who was kind of a pity invite, too, although a very fun pity invite. I slammed three Malibu and Diet Cokes in rapid succession and then cut it off because I was going to Milwaukee the next day.

Interesting Fact: You know how they were claiming that they didn’t have the Tootsie Roll song? Well, apparently when you’re really inebriated, the ‘Tricky’ song by Run DMC sounds a lot like the Tootsie Roll song, despite the fact that they don’t actually ever use the words ‘Tootsie’ nor ‘Roll’. Maybe it was the voices of Saint Malibu and Mother Kahlua talking to me, jonesing for some chocolate. I don’t know. I never claimed to understand how things work, people. I’m just telling you how it is. Imagine my surprise and disillusionment.

We didn’t stay out very late. Mo spotted a man who looked just like Johnny Knoxville. Well, maybe 90% Johnny, 10% Bam Margera. Still very attractive though and he was even chewing gum and had those little pouchy black eye circles that Johnny sports. I tried to get her to go over and mount him. ‘Mount him!’ I kept prodding her all night. She blatantly refused. He left, later, unmounted, and Mo almost started crying. I tried to be optimistic ‘You never know, a guy who looks like 90% Jimmy Fallon might come in. And then you’ll be listening to your older sister, now, won’t you?’

I dragged her out of there at midnight. Then I went home and called Jake, because if he can call me right when I’m teeing off at a very pretty golf course, I can call him and wake him up on a Friday night. He was awake anyway and we had a late night discourse on Trading Spaces. He thinks Vern is swishy. I think he’s just a nice guy. We both think Frank’s last name is Swishypants, though.

Saturday morning, I got up early and buzzed out of town after burning a CD with the damn Tootsie Roll song on it, having been smoked YET AGAIN. I call the CD ‘Dip Baby Dip’, which is appropriate. It’s totally a mismosh of songs. I always throw three songs on a CD that kind of ruin the feel. I swear, it’s a damn curse. Or I forget the song that I was building the entire mix around and it’s sitting there, like a bathroom without a toilet.

Wow. Where the hell did THAT metaphor come from? Man.

Anyway’

As I was driving down, I noticed this guy totally scoping me out in his rearview. And then he waved. I was perplexed because I hadn’t even applied the Slutty ‘Ho lipstick, which has been known to bring men to their knees and cause them to grope the lipstick wielder with impunity. But then I thought, ‘Hey, that looks like Scotty Boom Boom’s car’ and it looks like Scotty Boom Boom’s head.’ So I picked up my phone and dialed Scotty Boom Boom.

And the guy in the car ahead of me picked up his phone.

Weirdness. He was going to Gen Con aka Dorksville.

I blew off the highway a bit later to take a pee, so I didn’t get to travel throughout Wisconsin viewing Scotty Boom Boom’s taillights (wakka chicka wakka chicka). Instead, I ended up getting into a major hour-long traffic jam in Mequon. It wasn’t a complete loss though. I did get a chance to floof my hair and apply the Slutty ‘Ho lipstick and then distract other drivers. Oh, and some kind of large butterfly or possibly cicada lighted upon my arm for just a minute and it was a beautiful thing. Truly extraordinary and breathtaking.

I managed to free myself of the horrible traffic jam just north of Milwaukee by taking the rest of the route through town along the lakeshore and in view of the mansions that decorate the lakeside there. God, it makes me feel like white trash, me in my Intimidator and $5 tube of lip-gloss. But at least my fingernails matched my lipstick. Just like Lurleen says in her fashion advice column back home ‘Tube Tops and Aqua Net Ain’t Just for Formal Events Anymore’.

I went immediately to the Hootchie Mama store, nary three blocks from Esteban’s hotel and the Gen Con Central. Even over the downtown pollution, I could whiff the geek pheromones.

I found only a few things. I absolutely fell in love with a $7 lime green pair of Capri pants with little white bead fringe on the cuffs. I brought them into their questionable changing rooms, which amounted to basically a very thin piece of 18 inch burlap hung in a 20 inch doorway.

That is when I remembered another important life lesson.

Just because it’s cute and cheap doesn’t mean that it’s a good idea.

Lime green Capri pants with white saucer-sized flowers and Curvy Round Sex Goddesses do not mix. It was a fashion crime of bulbous proportions. I did the world a favor and just said no. Then I fled the store without even a single purchase. Ah well. Hopefully, Torrid, the plus size punk girl store, would have more fun stuff.

I swung by the Hilton and picked up Esteban, then took him to lunch, as he had begun to suckle upon my leather seats. Then we went to the mall and he was a very excellent mate. He waited outside of Torrid while I literally tried on their entire line of fashionista wear. Final Bootie: a t-shirt with Tinkerbell on it, a t-shirt with ‘Warning: Too Much Girl For A Punk Like You’ on it, a Tinkerbell necklace, and a fairy pen for Kim V. Then I dragged him to the Franklin Planner store where I pouted until he purchased several Franklin accessories for me, including a lovely suppository shaped lavender pen. The way to a woman’s heart is through her Planner. It’s very true. They should change the slogan. That ‘What Matters’ thing is dead in the water.

Then we went to Starbucks and I got a Venti Tazo Chai Frappuchino, which is so good that it tastes exactly like sin. I sucked it up too fast and got a damn brain freeze. GD luscious sin-tasting frozen nectar.

And then we went home and watched Margaret Cho’s special and I made an apple cake with my free-floating anxiety due to the fact that I was in the same town as a Krispy Kreme and didn’t stop by. Operation Hottie is a cruel mistress.

Sunday was slackerosity. I went to Target and pouted until Esteban bought me a bike. And a helmet. And a gel-padded seat to protect my fine round bottom. And a Pink CD. Save your emails, I’m fully aware that I’m spoiled, thank you very much. But I’m od’ing on Just Like a Pill. Which is appropriate, non?

Oh there was more but life is too short to write long entries. I’ll tell you about jury duty tomorrow. Now, back to some serious slacking.

Mwah!

Things that make you go “Gah!”

Oh man. I’ve been such a slacker. Don’t worry. I’ve already had a concerned email from Roadie wondering if perhaps I had been thrown in jail after our ballyhooed trip to the Bad Bar. Nah. Just lazy. I’m pretty sure that’s not against the law yet.

First of all, the grossness.

I’m warning you right now. Proceed at your own risk. Keep your hands inside the vehicle at all times. You must be this tall to board this ride.

First, for lunch, I brought some lovely snooty deli hummus and snooty deli bread for lunch. I felt very smug and self-righteous, as though Martha Stewart’s little kitchen gnomes had kneaded my Au Pain loaf just for me.

And I was chewing and you know when you’re chewing bread and there’s like a hard spot that just doesn’t….erm…. dissolve? Yeah. I had one of those.

So I freaked out and spit it out.

GAH!

It was some kind of curled up larval thing. One of those flour wormy things, all smooshed by my incisors.

Never in my life has the word ‘GAH!’ been more appropriate.

As God as my witness, I’m never going to eat another flour-based product as long as I live. Or at least until I get a jones for a snickerdoodle or something. I’m not a robot!

It just might be one of the most disgusting mouth moments I’ve ever had. Right up there under the time that I rode my bike to the gas station and bought some lime green Hubba Bubba bubble gum and popped a huge hunk into my mouth, then rode off on my lime green Schwinn with the ape hanger handle bars, the white and pink daisy covered banana seat and the basket off the front with psychedelic daisies on it, and as I was happily chewing to get the gum to optimal bubble-making consistency. I had read about a bubble-blowing contest in Bananas magazine and I had dreams of going to Columbus Ohio, home of the World’s Biggest Bubble competition and scoring myself a lifetime supply of Bubblicious myself. Which I would then sell for pennies on the dollar and buy myself Hubba Bubba, which didn’t stick to your face and was preferred by bubble connoisseurs worldwide. Anywhoo, I’m working my wad (Oooh yeah, baby, yeah! Wakka chicka wakka chicka!) when suddenly

OH MY GOD! VOMITOUS BILE TASTING CRUNCHY WHAT THE FUCK IS THAT IN MY MOUTH SPITEW! SPIT! SPIT! GAH! SPITCH! PPSBBTS!!!!

I spit out the gum and then recovered, mentally and physically after coasting to a stop. Then I started to wonder. I hadn’t been stung or anything but WHAT WAS IT? I peddled back but the wad was gone. It’s a mystery even to this day. I was pretty certain that a bug had flown into my mouth but now there was no macerated bug amidst ABC gum as evidence. There wasn’t even any ABC gum? Had it been a particularly tenacious bug which had survived the chewing due to my rather bad pre-orthodontist overbite? Was there a sticky wad of Hubba Bubba flying low around the neighborhood at that very moment? Along with the ‘How Many Licks’ Tootsie Pop mystery, the uncertainty, the mystery of the entire event plaued my childhood. Because I knew that it couldn’t have been an isolated incident, I wrote to Leonard Nimoy to do an ‘In Search Of’ on the whole thing. He sent me a reply ‘Dear Whita Bixt, Thank you for an interest in Mr. Nimoy. Watch for him at Star Trek conventions around the country. Enclosed you will find an autographed picture of Mr. Nimoy, signed especially for you Whita! Live long and prosper! Sincerely, Kenneth T. Stanton, President, Leonard Nimoy Fan Club’

Ok. Maybe I made that part up. But it was still the grossest thing I’ve ever had in my mouth. Even in college, when my sage roommate Kassandra warned me to never put my mouth on anything that pee came out of and I blatantly disregarded that advice, even THAT wasn’t as bad as the gum incident.

But the larval worm in my bread. Gah. And it’s not like it was cheap either. It was a $5 loaf, good for maybe eight slices. You’d think that for $5, it would be a pretty sure thing to get an infestation free loaf. But no. Not to be.

I had a bunch of other stuff to write about but I think I’ve exhausted my ambition today. It’s summer. It’s not my fault. I’m a slacker in the summer. I didn’t even put on underwear this morning because I couldn’t be bothered with walking over to the dresser and opening the drawer and who really needs underwear anyway? It’s not like I’m a boy and have skid mark problems or anything. And besides, I was not only avoiding unsightly panty lines but also decreasing the amount of dirty laundry I would have to do, thereby giving me more unmitigated slacking time. And Esteban likes it because when he goes for a surrepitous feel up my way-too-large shorts, he is unencomubered by girly panties. See? Everyone’s happy. It’s all good. Well, except maybe for my Mafia Grandma whose theory is that we do things to prevent bad things from happening and we wear clean underwear so that we’re not in an accident and taken to the hospital and then embarrassed because we have dirty underwear on. Well, I’m thinking in this case, maybe the doctors would be like ‘Whoa. No underwear. This one’s a curvy round sex kitten. We’d better save her life because hey, she will be really grateful and maybe want to, you know, wink wink nudge nudge wakka chicka bow bow.’ Because in my world, all the doctors act like Joey Tribiani aka Doctor Drake Ramoray.

Bah. I’m going back in the pool now. Enjoy the rest of the weekend. More later if I don’t get sequestered when I report for Jury Duty tomorrow morning.

How to go from age 31 to age 8 in three seconds

Aw MAN!!!

God damn. The Mole was Bill. Heather was just a big loser. Not only was she not Moley Russell’s Wart, she knew that Bill was the Mole and gave him to Dorothy. I should have known that Heather wouldn’t pull off anything. Those Texans never seem to do well in these reality shows ( *cough * Colby *cough *). And now I’ve got to write two entries for Uncle Bob.

Mofo mole.

That having been said, how much is Anderson Cooper my boyfriend? Well, let me tell you

THIS MUCH!

And then I started to think about my affair with the Verizon Guy. Who would I pick? Maybe I’d just let them duke it out. My, that would be entertaining! Duke it out without their shirts on. And Verizon Guy would be throwing punches, saying ‘Can you feel this now? Good.’ Actually, I think Anderson would make better boyfriend material than Verizon Guy. Anderson’s got that whole dashing and debonair thing down. And he’s a Vanderbilt, so he’s all snobby and pretentious too, a combination I can’t seem to resist. Plus, he’s four years older than me, so he fits into my whole ‘Older Man’ requirement, whereas I suspect that Verizon Guy may be a bit wet behind the ears. He seems too eager to please, you know? Like the bitterness hasn’t had time to soak in yet.

Can you tell that Esteban left for Milwaukee? Yeah. I thought you could. He’s right. I AM wild this year. And the sad thing is that Penny and Carissa are just stoking the flames. They want to go out again on Friday night. To the Bad Bar, of course. And I’m going to Milwaukee the next morning, but then, has that ever stopped me before? No. Not really. Because I’m a wild child or something. The only thing is that this time, I will be driving down and doing the shopping marathon and also I’ve made a promise to myself that I’m not going to get drunk at least until JournalCon in October.

Chyeah. Like that’s going to happen with all the wildness.

Speaking of wildness, I’m going to be the hottest juror at the courthouse on Monday. Seriously. They want ME. I’m going to be making the decisions that uphold the legal system. Or I’m going to be discounted as biased because maybe the victim will be a curvy round sex goddess who had hippy parents and likes to dance on the bar to the ‘Tootsie Roll’ song. One can only hope.

Last night, my mother requested Esteban and my presence at her house for dinner. Apparently, Mafia Grandma would be in attendance as well.

I don’t mind going over to my mom’s house, honestly because she’s an excellent cook. But her two-bedroom duplex is the same size as my last apartment. It’s so damn small. She pulls out the table to accommodate more than two people and then it is simply impossible to move. Of course, she’s got the place crammed with her mismatched furniture, so there is a computer desk, full dining room table and chairs , Hoosier cabinet, full buffet hutch and a tropical forest of plants all crammed into a 12×8 room. It is literally impossible to move around it all. What is more, Mafia Grandma brought over her yippy little Pekingese, which is the bookend to my mother’s yippy little Pekingese. Esteban and I ended up eating in the living room with M.G. The two yippy little dogs were trying to jump into our laps and eat directly off our plates and I couldn’t punt them because M.G. was watching. No. I jest. I wouldn’t really kick one. Much.

From the dining room, I hear my mother begin a litany to my little 4-year-old niece about how evil Auntie Weetabix was when she was younger. About how messy I was and how Mo didn’t want to share a room with me because I was messy. Um, hullo? We were BOTH messy, but suddenly history has turned Mo into the gleaming perfect poster child who, at the tender age of five, was complaining and saying, ‘Mother, I simply cannot share a bedroom with Weetabix because she is far too sloppy for my taste. As you are well aware, my habits range to the pristine and austere Oriental simplicity and not this organic disorganization of my roommate, with whom I have nothing more in common than a few shared chromosomes. Please, Mother, I beseech you to find other sleeping arrangements for me so I will be spared these atrocities!’ Mo was laughing. Then she added to my impressionable niece that Auntie Weetabix used to pummel her within an inch of her life. And then she mentioned that I once tricked her into misbehaving so that I could tape it and show Mom.

The nerve!

I piped up. ‘Excuse me, but don’t tell her that I beat you up because she will believe you and think I will beat her up. Secondly, you dirty rotten liar, I ought to beat you up right now for spreading such lies!’

You see, what really happened was that Mom had screamed at me because she heard someone jumping off the furniture in our room and onto a bed. But it wasn’t me. I’m not even exaggerating here. I just didn’t jump on beds. It wasn’t my style. And I was taught to have too much respect for furniture to use it for acrobatics. Mo, on the other hand, was uncontrollable but somehow had the reputation of being an angel. I seem to remember that Mother’s logic was that Mo was far too short to climb onto her dresser therefore it HAD to be me. Thus, despite my pleas of innocence, I was sent to our room for punishment. The logic behind that is strange, since that was actually the scene of the crime, but then, Mom really wasn’t a shining example of good parenting.

Mo, because she was a wretched little creep, came into the room to gloat over the fact that I was serving time for the crime that she committed. I was angry. I believe that I was crying from the injustice of it all. I was desperate to clear my name. Thus, I turned on my tape recorder and asked her how she normally climbed up on her dresser to jump off the bed.

It was the 4th grade equivalent of a wire tape. Mo fell for it completely, being not an especially brilliant five-year-old. She was more than happy to demonstrate no less than three times how exactly she got up onto the dresser by pulling out the drawers and making steps. Not only did she replicate it, but also NARRATED exactly what she was doing.

As soon as I had adequate proof of Mo’s guilt, I stomped out of the bedroom feeling righteous and vindicated and played the tape for my mother.

She gave me a spanking for being so sneaky and sent me BACK to my bedroom. Mo never got punished.

And last night, as Mom was retelling the story, suddenly Mo was an innocent victim and I a ruthless charlatan who delighted in manipulating Mo to get her into trouble. She then actually had the audacity to imply that perhaps I had been the jumper all along and fabricated the story of Mo being the jumper, as she was a na’ve and sensitive child and was prone to my evil ministering. She continued on, despite the fact that I tried to explain that I was just a child myself and not the criminal mastermind that she was making me out to be. I mean, sure, I was bad sometimes. I did, along with Mo, put food color all over her Pekingese, giving us the world’s first Punk Rock Dog. (Even then, she had an affinity to yippy little dogs). But not nearly as bad as I should have been or COULD have been, which is probably the reason I have such an urge to be a wild girl now. I was always the responsible one when I was a kid and even now I get no credit for it. Mo was laughing so hard that she could barely breathe because she knew that Mom was completely spinning everything due to her poor addled delusions, and she thinks it’s funny, the way that Mom blindly favors her even when she sounds absolutely insane.

Esteban started to sneeze uncontrollably and I took that as a perfect excuse to leave and then rant to Esteban for ten minutes, while he sneezed and tried to breathe. Poor guy.

Maybe he’s allergic to complete and utter bullshit.

The WHAT mama store?

I was in the pool for 4.6 hours on Sunday.

That’s insanity. It’s waterlogged insanity.

I think I’m becoming a Pool Goddess. But my boobs stay where I want them to. Most of the time, anyway.

And because I made the conscious decision that a wee bit of sunburn was better than a month’s worth of hives, I’m now sunburned. I’m still itchy from the 4th of July, but thankfully burned hives don’t itch. Thus I’m a bit raccoonish right now though. I sun worshipped like a skin cancer-ridden skinny bitch because it just felt so darned lovely on my skin I really couldn’t help myself. Then I sat upon the blue floatie which corresponds with my electric blue toenail polish and fried some more. My eyes look enormous and really blue surrounded by those little white circles, like I’m what happens when those Precious Moments figurines grow up and go bad. You ever notice that Enesco never let you see the ‘Bar Flies Need Love Too’ figurine. It’s just too upsetting.

Esteban looked at me yesterday and said ‘Why are you so WILD this year?’ and then mentioned that I’ve been to bars more times in the last year than I have in the previous 11 since I’ve known him. It’s all the fault of the Bad Bar. Or maybe Carissa. I’m blaming her. Couldn’t possibly be my fault. Nope. I won’t believe it.

Actually, I think it’s that Woman’s Peak thing. I’m ramping up, baby. I think I must be hitting that sexual peak. I think like a boy now. When I’m out watching people, I’m no longer judging them on their fashion sense but rather I’m looking for guys who are possible cast members of the constant sexual fantasy that goes on inside my head. It’s a strange thing really.

Actually, I kind of like it. It’s like when I was thirteen and thinking about sex ALL THE TIME. Maybe it’s from calling myself a Curvy Round Sex Goddess. My hormones are taking up the cause. You can almost here the little estrogen cavalry rushing in, tooting a very tiny little cellular bugle.

And is it just me or is every UPS driver damn sexy? Maybe it’s the shorts. I dig a man in proper shorts. I love men’s legs. I don’t know why, but man legs are pretty hot. They have to have a proper amount of hair. Hairless man legs make me squeamish. And they can’t be too hairy. It can’t look like they’re wearing pants. Oddly enough, I’m not into terribly muscular legs, either. Just nice, slightly downy, mildly muscled man legs. UPS driver legs. Russell Crowe legs. Lifeguard legs. Groowlll. I’ve got to stop that now.

I do know one thing though. If this keeps up, I’m going to be answering my door in my adorable boxer shorts and busty camisole, and inviting the paper boy in for ‘coffee, tea, or me’. Gah. I’m so turning into my mother. Next thing I know, I’ll be moving out of the house and shacking up with a biker named Ace, who has his name tattooed onto the top of his left hand, so he doesn’t forget who he is when he’s drunk. Actually, in her case, she shacked up with a John Lennon clone hippy, we stopped eating meat for two years and I forgot what white bread tasted like.

Not many people consider falafel a comfort food.

Esteban will be attending some dork fest down in Milwaukee this weekend. He’s leaving tomorrow and that means one thing for this wild girl:

Kegger!

No. Not really. But I am taking a vacation day on Friday for some girl on girl action.

Girl golf, people. Get your minds out of the gutter. Penny and I, sans The Lovely Carissa, because she is without a babysitter, will be hitting the links. And then I will be driving to Milwaukee to shop at my favorite mall ever. It has a Pottery Barn, a Barnes & Noble, a Franklin Planner store, a J.Jill, a Marshall Fields WITH a Prescriptives counter where they can custom blend your makeup for you for value added yuppie smugness, a Coldwater Creek, a Crate & Barrel, a Restoration Hardware, a Body Shop, a Godiva chocolatier, an Eddie Bauer with an Eddie Bauer Home section, and’wait for it’ wait for it’ TORRID the Curvy Round Punk Girl Store! Wooot! I think that when I die, I want my ashes to be scattered at that mall because it is my idea of heaven. If they had an Ikea, maybe, just MAYBE it would be perfect and people would have spontaneous consumer orgasms when they walked into the door. Maybe.

I’m quivering with anticipation. I was telling Ward and June about my shopping extravaganza and she asked ‘Is that where the Cootchie store is?’

I was stunned. My mouth literally dropped open, bringing in at least a cup of pool water. Did I tell her about the porn store adventure? What the heck?

‘What?’ I asked.

‘You know, the Cootchie Mama store.’

‘OHHHH! HOOTCHIE MAMA store!’ I exclaimed.

Then I had to tell her that she shouldn’t call things Cootchie Mama in public because it’s not a very nice word and maybe the girls at the Hootchie Mama store would pop a cap in her ass if they heard her say such things.

So anyway, the Hootchie Mama store is looking for a new name. But I will be visiting there as well.

I have to post this now because Heidi is getting upset. Hi Heidi. Hope you’ve got your motivation now.

I’m a watersoaked, html breaking loser, baby.

I keep breaking my notify list thingy. It’s ticking me off. Dang it all anyway. HTML is like the great equalizer of the Internet. It’s not about how cool you are. It’s not about what kind of car you drive. It’s about getting your mickey fickey links to work and knowing how to change your damn font size when you need to. Argh.

Just needed to share that.

And if you want to be on the notify list (and you really should, by the way, because I often spill little tidbits that aren’t in the diary. And sometimes I don’t because I’m sobbing because I just wrote the sentence ‘I’m just a girl who lost her cat’ and I’m crying too hard to think up anything and really just pleased that I managed to go to the notify list admin site and type in the link without anyone in the surrounding cubicles knowing that I had a big messed up red face, tears spilling down onto my cleavage, and a big old snot string just waiting to happen because I ran out of Kleenex two weeks ago and can’t seem to break out of summer slacker mode long enough to bring a new box with me to work. )So, I’ll fix it eventually, but then I’ll probably break it again. Instead of using that snazzy little box at the bottom of the page, you can just enter your email address in here. I haven’t managed to break THAT little window.

Yet.

Yesterday, after sleeping next to Esteban and his smashing impression of bovine opera, we woke up early to go to the Renaissance Faire along with Scotty Boom Boom, Joel, Cheri.

Well, ok. I woke up early. My snorting cohabitant decided that he didn’t have to wake up because his beloved codependent wife would take care of everything and he could basically sleep until three minutes before we had to leave, and then he would groggily rise, take a shower, and then flop heartily into the driver’s seat of the Monte, still drippy and smooshy and somehow still have drool on his face after the shower. But I can only imagine that this is what he was thinking. It seemed to be so, since even after the fourth time, even after I walked in, stood upon the bed over his sleeping form where he was heartily dousing my lovely down pillow and the 450 thread count white pillowcase with not only his man grease but also morning mouth drool, and yelled ‘YOU MUST GET UP AS THEY WILL BE HERE IN EXACTLY NINETEEN MINUTES AND I WILL NOT FETCH YOUR CLOTHES FOR YOU BECAUSE YOU ARE LATE AGAIN! I WON’T DO IT! I JUST WON’T! I’M NOT EVEN KIDDING SO DON’T TEST ME ON THIS MATTER!’ Even after that, he refused to budge.

Finally, he extricated himself from the bed with a resounding SCHWAACK as he unstuck his cheek from my lovely pillow. I sighed and whipped off the pillowcase, replacing it with a shoddy 250-thread count pillowcase, as I wanted to bring my pillow along.

He then proceeded to aggravate me to no end by wandering around in a clueless daze. ‘Where are you going?’ he asked, in that tone of helplessness that implies ‘I need you to find me underwear and shorts and socks and a shirt and shoes. Without you, I will go naked and be scratched by the thorny underbrush we will undoubtedly be forced to walk through.’ I ignored him and because of this, he paired jean shorts and white socks with black tennis shoes. I should have probably found his white ones but my new Gloria Steinem book was glaring at me from the bathroom counter. I’m sorry, but how can one be a feminist when they are forced to wander next to the fashionably clueless? I want to fight the patriarchy, I really do, but the reality is that people are programmed to think that I dressed him that way! He wandered around in public like that all day. Score one for New Grrl Order, minus one hundred and eleven for my pledge to be a Curvy Round Fashionista.

Because of this as well as the snorting and the general clueless whininess, I was incredibly irritated as we left. Unreasonably irritated, I must admit. I found the label ‘Stupid’ come out of my mouth, thrown in Esteban’s direction. It was so wrong. I’m ashamed. I apologized to him later. It makes me want to cry that I can be so mean to someone who is so wonderful, but I suppose everyone is unreasonable at one time or another. I still feel really bad. I have no patience. It’s probably a good thing that my uterus has never been called to duty because I think I’d be running people down with my souped up mini van or spiking my children’s juice boxes with benadryl so they’d crash out and let me have my necessary several hours of Internet time.

Scotty rode with us and we had a hilarious conversation about how much money it would take for a guy to let another man have anal sex with him. I would reproduce the conversation but I was high from laughing and nearly passed out during most of it. I phoned Joel, who was in the car ahead of us, and asked him the question and he nearly crashed his car laughing. Then I think we ticked Cheri off, being so juvenile. I was negotiating like a mofo, though. Man, I should probably get out of technical support and go into corporate deal making. I would so kick ass. I can look into someone’s true heart and know exactly what it will take to make them bend over and spread their cheeks.

That was a nice image. Sorry.

And the funny thing about that is that I’ll bet right now you’re mentally calculating. Or shifting in your seat uncomfortably.

The Renaissance Faire was nice. I kept getting lost and then refinding everyone. We watched someone juggle bowling balls. We watched another act where one man twisted another man’s nipples to make him sing like a crystal glass being rimmed.

Best quote of the day: these two four- or five-year-old boys were having a mock sword fight with little wooden swords and one boy made a rather spectacular jab and the other exclaimed in a brilliant whine ‘NO! You’re not allowed to hit me in my wiener!’

That made me giggle just typing it. Unfortunately for Scott, as I was relaying the scene to him, he missed a rather buxom lady wearing a chain mail bikini. With nothing underneath. Those randy Rennies and their fashion. And I was worried about Esteban’s footwear.

The drive home was uneventful. Esteban and Scott talked about a bunch of boy things that made me write stories in my head out of boredom. I actually had a flash of inspiration where I realized I could combine two story ideas that I had and they would work great. Now I must apply them to paper or at very least, the fake sheets of paper that you see in Word. I’d actually started writing one of the elements of the story awhile back when inspiration struck, but I’ve been only mentally writing it recently. The other one has been scribbled in various emails and mailed to myself, but nothing substantial or real. Sometimes, I feel as though I’m just a secretary taking dictation and it’s not very much fun. But then, maybe if I had a lovely addiction to something other than Diet Coke or Body Butter, ala Ernest Hemmingway or F. Scott Fitzgerald or Dylan Thomas or any other of the scores of drugged out writers today’ then maybe someday I might be a real writer. Or maybe I’d just end up dancing on the windowsill at The Bad Bar, getting groped by men wearing questionable fashion.

At one point during the drive home, I interrupted Scott to turn up the radio by saying ‘Wait, I’m sorry, this is my favorite Weezer song’. It was ‘Loser’ or that song that goes ‘I’m a loser babah, so why don’t you kill me.’ Scotty sneered and retorted ‘That is not Weezer!’ and I said ‘Yes it is!’ because I was picturing my illegally downloaded song and the description which read ‘Weezer-Loser So Why Don’t You Kill Me’.

‘I will bet you five dollars that isn’t Weezer’.

This is when the Greek Chorus that is supposed to warn me before I do stupid things would have piped up with ‘No, Weetabix, don’t do it! That is not Weezer! Listen to the song! They are diverse as artists but they are not THAT diverse! The lyrics are far too brilliant to be Weezer. Just close your mouth now and say no more, fair child!’

But I don’t have a Greek Chorus, so I pretty much said ‘I will bet you TEN BUCKS that it is!’ And then we shook on it. Then Scott said ‘That is SO Beck, from Odelay I believe.’ And then a gong rang inside my gut, it was the gong of truth. Then I remembered that it WAS Beck and the idiot who uploaded that song to AudioGalaxy misnamed it like the music-stealing tool they are. So I gave him his ten bucks, without even waiting to check it when we got home. I took slight satisfaction in that the bill I gave him was saturated with my sweat, having been in my sock all day, but he didn’t seem to care.

Damn illegally downloaded music. Crime doesn’t pay, people. That’s all I’m saying. I’m a stupid criminal and this is one of those ways that it bites you in the ass. And yes, I’m fully aware of the succinct title that was in debate. I am a loser. Baby. So why don’t you make a bet with me?

So, now I’m pretty certain that I will be writing UncleBob’s page for him because Bill will end up being the Mole and not Heather. This was a sign. A sign that I am loser and my luck is at low ebb. At least my mouth writes checks my ass can cash.

Even if Bill is the Mole, Heather is SO the Mole.

Damn Weezer.

I am a complete tool.

The song is repeating itself

So I put my name in the hat for this new position that they’ve created at work. The position’s nick name is ‘Wall Street’ which makes it sound very important and sort of scary, but in reality, it’s pretty much the same thing I’m doing now, only talking to stock brokers rather than the general population of clients that I talk to now. It’s a little more in depth than that, but that’s essentially the scoop. There are a few more programs involved but there are also other programs that the Wall Street person wouldn’t have to support, so that would be nice, because I’m not terribly fluent in those programs anyway.

I had an interview with the Vice President on Tuesday and then a conference call with one of the people I’d be working with on Thursday. Then on Friday, I watched as a stream of individuals whom I KNEW also went for the position, got called into the Veep’s office for a short meeting. One that I’m certain consisted of ‘Thank you for your interest, but we’ve decided to go with another candidate, yadda yadda.’

Now, I was pretty certain that I didn’t get it for a number of reasons, which ranged from the fact that I wore my Doc Martens to the interview to the fact that people with more experience were applying for the position. But I was bummed, because I WANTED the position. It would mean more visibility, more work, a work schedule which was more conducive to Operation Hottie maneuvers, and several trips to NYC. I haven’t been there since I was 18 and I’ve been dying to go back ever since.

There’s a strange protocol at work. When you’re going for a different position, you don’t talk about it. You don’t talk about it with ANYONE. And yet, everyone knows who is going for it. Members of my immediate team were applying as well as some of my friends from other departments. It was strange because they all knew I was applying and I knew that they were applying but we all just pretended it wasn’t happening. I didn’t talk about it on here because it would have breeched that whole protocol that we’ve got going on. It’s like an elephant in the living room that no one ever talks about.

I was pretty sure that someone from within our department would get it because it was basically a senior level position and you’d need the background and experience of the products, but there were folks who have left the department who might have been considering coming back. It was all sorts of uncertain. Finally, one of my coworkers threw everything out on the table and said, ‘I know you’re going for Wall Street, you know that I am. Who else is?’ and then we’d try to figure it all out. She’s cool that way. I would have still been uber repressed about the whole thing.

So yesterday, we had our departmental golf outing, which meant that we closed the office at 2:00. I announced that I would take my lunch at 1:00 so that I could run home and get Esteban’s clubs for someone who needed clubs. And 1:00 came and still nothing happened. Neither one of us had been called in. We didn’t know what that meant.

I came home and sat in our extremely cluttered computer room and checked my email (can’t walk into the door without doing that. It’s like a damn sickness) when the phone rang. Caller ID said that it was from my company’s general phone number, but nothing more. Probably Mo or maybe the coworker telling me who got the position.

Nope. It was the VP. My first thought that ran through my head was ‘Oh god, you’re not going to tell me that I didn’t get it over the phone are you???’ But he didn’t.

He offered me the position. I accepted.

(cue theme song from ‘The Jeffersons’)

Yeah, baby! YEAH! Weetabix is going to be working with stockbrokers; making those influential stock decisions happen. Seriously. Just you watch. Give me a few months and I’m going to bring this economy back around. The Dow rose 500 points in anticipation of my arrival.

But it was very surreal. I mean, I was sitting at my computer, staring at Diaryland’s entry page, and getting this job offer. It was like a dream in the way that you know you’re dreaming when strange things happen and it’s just not right. Like, you pick up a dead salmon and it starts talking with the voice of Ross Perot. It was very strange and I had this feeling like maybe I laughed at something and blacked out, dreaming the entire thing.

I then went to the golf outing and had to face a bunch of people. No one was supposed to know yet, but the coworker who had laid it all on the table came up to me immediately and congratulated me, cluing in my Golf Chica Mary, who was standing there. Then one of the foursome congratulated me as well, because he is a member of my new team and they had been briefed by the VP. I think half of the people knew already and the other half were informed at the departmental meeting in the clubhouse afterwards, when they made the official announcement.

We also had a little weird game where you had a list of jobs and you had to guess which of your team members used to have that job. The job description I submitted was something like ‘I used to be a camp counselor and taught low ropes courses, leadership workshops, and led campfires where I taught everyone how to sing The Beaver Song’.

I am very stupid. I am a very stupid girl. Because you would have to know that when it was revealed that I indeed was the person who used to teach people to sing this mysterious thing known as ‘The Beaver Song’ that they would hear the damn song, right?

And need I even tell you that it has actions, including one where you make beaver teeth and say ‘Aruk Aruk Aruk’ like a mickey fickey beaver?

And need I even tell you that not only was my new superior–the VP–there but HIS freaking boss as well? And I made everyone sing the damn Beaver Song and make the goofy beaver teeth, complete with ‘Aruk Aruk Aruk’ because if I had to be up there making beaver teeth then I wanted everyone else doing it to? No. I don’t think I need to even tell you that.

So I’m certain they’re mightily impressed with their new Wall Street Account Whatever I Am. I’m just that professional.

My first goal will be to have the entire trading floor of the NYSE making beaver teeth at the closing bell. That would freaking rock.

After the golfing, the announcing, and the Aruk Aruking, a bunch of my coworkers wanted to go to The Bad Bar. Oh my. The Bad Bar. It is my Waterloo. And I don’t mean the Abba song either. Even though I really like Abba, I mean in the Napoleon sense.

So we all left the golf course and went to The Bad Bar. I declared to the Bar and anyone within earshot that I was going to be a good girl and was not going to get drunk this time. And I was serious.

I was given two shots and a Malibu & Diet Coke within fifteen minutes of that statement.

Gah.

The universe wants me drunk off my ass. That’s all there is to it. The universe is not going to be happy until I am shitfaced and living in a van down by the river, with a guy named Kenny who makes his Tequila money selling hubcaps he finds on the side of the road.

I think The Bad Bar is one of those evil presence kind of bars. Like a hotel in a Stephen King story or something. All Diet Coke and no Malibu makes Weetabix a dull girl. It WANTS me to love it. It WANTS me to rest my curvilicious ass against The Magical Wall Of Support. It WANTS me to lay my cheek against the leopard print barstool and moan ‘Oh god, the world is spinning and I just want a chilito to make it stop.’

I continued to drink only Diet Coke. My lovely coworkers, who only wanted to be able to see if I really was as funny drunk as they’ve heard, bless their little hearts, continued to purchase shots for me, including one which tasted like some kind of cherry cheesecake and made me want to lick out the glass.

And they couldn’t find the Tootsie Roll song. The owner came over and told me that he didn’t have it. Penny and I called him a downright dirty assed plaid pants wearing liar. They never did find it.

I did not get drunk. The bald and yet very cute bartender continued to give me free drinks for the rest of the night, although I only had Diet Coke. A strange guy started to hit on me because I made the mistake of talking to him at one point. And then he sat down next to me and proceeded to push his knee into my hip. All night. I’d scoot down a bit or twist away, he’d press it right back in. Knee. Hip. Knee. Hip. Kneehipkneehipkneehip. Gah. Maybe it was because I was getting hungry or something, but he really looked like that Chihuahua from the Taco Bell commercials. I kept expecting him to say ‘Yo quiero Curvy Round Sex Goddess’

Then as if to entice me to even more drinking, the Evil Bad Bar played a string of my very favorite tunes, including ‘Wild Thing’ by Tone Loc, some song about how Willy won’t go home, and then some Abba.

Yeah. It was ‘Waterloo’. And yeah, I danced on the damn windowsill again. But without the assistance of the alcohol, I wasn’t the hottest thing in the bar. I think Penny might have been. I dunno. I just couldn’t pull it off. Chihuahua Man was watching me with his big googly eyes though. After that song, we decided to bail. I told him that we were leaving and he said ‘Where?’ to which I replied ‘Penny’s house’ which was a damn dirty plaid-pants wearing lie, because we were going to Taco Bell first. I didn’t want him to offer any employee discounts or anything, so I fibbed. Karma then got the best of me because we somehow completely lost Mary. I still don’t know what happened. I’m so confused. We were going to meet at the Taco Bell near Penny’s house but she never arrived. I dunno. Penny got to hear the Crystal Waters song ‘Come On Down’ though, and now her life is complete.

I came home, went to bed. Esteban came home, went to bed, and then began snoring like a pig. I mean, he actually sounded like a pig. It wasn’t snoring, it was SNORTING. In the ten plus years that I’ve been sleeping next to that man, I’ve never heard anything like it. I began to dream about Babe and little singing mice and Babe’s adorable voice when he sings ‘la la la’. Then Tilly decided that she wasn’t loved enough and needed someone to pay attention to her. Right. Then. Then more snorting. I was pretty grumpy about it though because we had plans to go to the Renaissance Faire with Joel, Cheri and Scotty Boom Boom disgustingly early in the morning, so I knew that we’d have to get up in a few hours and then spend three hours in the car, then six hours tromping around the Faire, then the car ride back home. I finally got up around 6 a.m. and went to sleep in my little nest on one side of our L-shaped sofa. Where it was quiet. Best two hours of sleep I’ve had in a long time. I woke up with the pattern of our television remote buttons imprinted on my cheek and I didn’t even care.

Aruk. Aruk. Aruk.

Chicken Parmesan…For the Bold And Daring

I’m ticked.

Apparently, I missed out on a grand tradition at my college.

The Shoe Tree fell over.

Crap. That ticks me off. I had no idea that it even existed. I never actually lived on that campus, transferring from the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point when I was a sophomore to live with Esteban in town. And now it’s gone. And my shoes were never there.

Oh. The professor has the link to this page now. (Hi Tom!) And I haven’t even touched the particularly puerile things. I probably should have though. Gah. That uterus entry is going to haunt me for the rest of my life. I just know it.

Oh. Uncle Bob has challenged me to a bet. If Bill is the Mole (as IF!!!), I must write two diary entries for him, in his writing style. If Heather is the Mole, (and she is SO Moley that her first name ought to be “Holy”) he will write two diary entries for me, in my writing style. Whatever that is. I took his bet and said, “Bring it, Bitch!” Mostly because I’ve been waiting for like two years to say that to someone.

Yeah. I’m thinking I’m going to be writing his entries for him too.

Fuck.

(Figured I should practice swearing now.)

Esteban cooked again last night.

I must preface this story with a disclaimer: Esteban actually does know how to cook. His hamburgers are exquisite. He’s much better at making chicken breasts and rice than I am. He makes the best spaghetti sauce I’ve ever tasted in my life. He makes incredible scrambled eggs. You might think “What? Scrambled eggs?! I’ve been making scrambled eggs since I was eleven!” but seriously, there must be a trick to it because his eggs come out so light and fluffy and delicious and perfectly done with nary even a trace of that egg snot yucky stuff that triggers my involuntary gag reflex. So it’s not that he can’t cook. He can.

Yesterday morning, I called Esteban before he left work and asked him to take some chicken breasts out of the freezer to thaw so that we could grill them for dinner. Then at the end of the day, I took a late lunch and did my grocery shopping. By that time, I was really tired and cranky and didn’t want to waste an hour steaming potatoes and standing by the grill because it was something like 98 degrees outside so I got some stuff from the deli and figured that we’d grill the next night. As I was driving out of the grocery store at 5:10 pm (normally the time I’d be leaving work), my cell phone rang.

It was Esteban.

“Are you coming right home?”

“Of course I am.”

“Good. Because dinner’s all ready.”

I was confused. “You grilled the chicken?”

“I made dinner.”

“What did you make?”

“I made dinner.”

That was ominous. “What did you make?”

He was getting iritated, mostly because he knows that I’m a control freak about food preparation and have a flutter tummy about certain combinations. Like, if it’s sketchy, I can’t eat it. I’m a horrible wifely thing that way. It’s mostly because I wasn’t allowed to be a picky little snit when I was a child, so I’m making up for it now.

“I made….I made chicken parmesan.”

“Oh. Ok. I’ll be home in ten.”

I hung up my phone and did the math in my head. We didn’t have any pre-made chicken parmesan dinners. He would have had to make that from scratch. We had chicken breasts. We did have various cheeses. We had pasta as well as various bottled sauces. So it was possible.

I guess.

I drove home with much curiosity. He met me outside to help carry in the groceries. When I walked in the door, I was met with a familiar smell. A strangely hot and yet familiar smell.

It reminded me of…. Lunch boxes.

He helped me put away the groceries and then he removed two very orange pans from the oven where they were keeping warm.

“I looked up recipes on the internet and everything.” He said, concernedly. “But I had to substitute some stuff.”

“What stuff?” I said, still trying to place the lunch box smell.

“We didn’t have bread crumbs.”

“What did you use instead?”

“Doritos.”

Ding Ding, Ladies and Gentlemen, I think we have a winner.

“Why didn’t you just make bread crumbs from one of the two loaves of bread we had?”

“We had bread?”

“In the frig.”

“Well, honestly, it didn’t occur to me to MAKE the bread crumbs. ”

“I’m sure it will be fine, honey.”

My flutter tummy was kicking into overdrive, so I talked it back off its proverbial ledge. Come on, it won’t be that bad. It’s just Doritos. BAKED Doritos at that. My flutter tummy huffed and pouted, standing in the corner, dreaming about lovely grilled chicken breast and steamed new potatoes.

It wasn’t that bad. Of course, after last time, I would have eaten it if it were dog food. The Doritos were not very crushed because he couldn’t find the pitcher part of the blender, but it was very tasty. I didn’t let him put the red sauce over the chicken though. That would have put me right over the edge.

Even so, he wisely didn’t tell me about everything he put in it, including two eggs or the fact that the marinade was BLACK, until after I had eaten most of it. The thought of a black eggy marinade would have sent me into a dead faint.

Also, to Esteban’s credit, the spaghetti was done perfectly and the red sauce was divine. It wasn’t a total wash. While eating, I tried to maintain a chipper and supportive demeanor by asking questions.

“So, which cheese did you use?”

He looked at me blankly. “Cheese?”

“You said it was Chicken Parmesan, right?”

“Oh, I guess that would have made sense then. To put cheese in a dish called Chicken Parmesan. It didn’t even occur to me.”

“That’s ok, honey. The Doritos are cheesy.”

“But these are Nacho Doritos.”

“I’d bet that it would be better with Cool Ranch.”

“I don’t know. I think maybe you shouldn’t use Doritos. I guess it’s not really Chicken Parmesan.”

“Well, it’s not BAD or anything. It’s fine. It’s just something else, that’s all. Maybe Chicken Nachotaliano? Or Chicken Italiacho? Eat all you want, we’ll make more.”

“Um, no we won’t.”

“I’m just saying.”

“I’m sorry, baby. This sucks.”

“No, it’s good. It’s GOOD! See!? Yum! If you sort of scrape the top part of the Doritos and eat the part that’s sort of soggy, that’s better.”

Thank god we didn’t have Cheetos in the house. The things you do for love. Gah.

I called Esteban at work this morning to tell him that I wanted to write about Dorito Chicken Parmesanless. He then sent me the recipe.

In case, you know, anyone wanted to make it.

1/2 bag of Baked Doritos–Nacho Cheese flavor
6 Boneless and Skinless Chicken Breasts
1 Teaspoon Minced Garlic
1/2 Teaspoon of chopped Oregano in oil
1/2 Cup Skim Milk
Worchestshire sauce
Soy Sauce
Salt
Pepper
Granulated Toasted Garlic
Granulated Toasted Onion
2 Jumbo Eggs

Break the two eggs into a bowl. Add several liberal shakes of Worstershire sauce. Contemplate the bowl for a minute. Add about two tablespoons of soy sauce. Add minced garlic, granulated garlic, granulated toasted onion. Add Oregano. Mix with a fork until the resulting mix is frothy. Sniff the mixture. Decide that it’s a bit discerning that the resulting goo is black. Add salt and pepper, mix again. Sniff again and decide that all will be well after it’s baked.

Crush the Doritos with your hands, getting as much orange crap on your hands as possible. When the Doritos are reasonably small, dip the chicken breasts in the mixture and then into the Doritos, coating the breast liberally with Dorito crumbs. Lay the finished breast into a glass casserole dish that you have greased with olive oil. You will no doubt have to try to grease it with one hand, as you didn’t think to do this earlier. Repeat until all breasts are in a casserole dish. You will have to grease another casserole with one hand, as one casserole dish isn’t enough.

Next decide that you cant waste the remaining Doritos and pour the reminder of them into the casserole dishes. Contemplate the black batter again. Decide that shouldn’t be wasted either and pour it into the casserole dishes. Decide that it would have been better to do that BEFORE the Doritos.

Cook at 375 degrees for 30 minutes. Serve with pasta and spaghetti sauce.

Yesterday, I spent a good part of the day talking on the phone to a network guy from a company that I shall call Lepsi-Lola. That’s really not the name though. I’ve changed it, you see, because I am very clever that way. Anyway, Andy was extremely nice but kept putting me on hold while he did his important Lepsi network business, forcing me to listen to the Lepsi commercials, featuring Litany Lears.

See? Clever.

Thus, I began to fantasize that maybe I was really talking to Anderson Cooper, host of ABC’s The Mole and son of Gloria Vanderbilt. Because he seems like he is secretly an IT guy burdened with good looks, social grace, and an enviable sense of style and is thus shunned by other IT professionals because he doesn’t sport a million techno gadgets and a football injury prevents him from whipping out his Palm Pilot with nerdish flair. But anyway, Andy sounded like Anderson and it made my life a little more interesting.

Ok, unlike some people, I think The Mole is Heather. Even though it’s so fricking obvious. I mean, when Al was trying to get her to admit that she was the Mole, she said, ‘It’s not going to work!’ which is just an admission of Moledom right there. Damn her. Damn her and her proximity to hottie boom bottie Anderson Cooper, who speaks to me in my dreams and asks me if I want a Venti Iced Chai for my drinking pleasure.

So I needed someone to take over for Starbucks Guy. No man is perfect, people!

Ok, here’s my conundrum of the day:

I’ve finally located one of my missing professors from college, which was very exciting. I had a great phone call with him on Friday afternoon, during which I babbled practically incoherently to him about nothing in particular and during which he was his normal witty and confident self. And no, that was prior to the Blind Russian incident at The Bad Bar, so stop looking at me that way. Well, the weirdness is that I stupidly mentioned this web page and he asked for the address.

The horror!!!

I probably could have rattled off the address to him right then and all would have been well, but sometimes people have difficulty because they expect a WWW to be proceeding the Weetabix part, so I told him I’d send it to him in email. But I also was thinking of the goofy stuff that I had on the page recently. I mean, the salon talk, a story about my cat puking, the whole bidet thing. Gah. And this is a man from whom I’m requesting a recommendation letter for a graduate program in writing. You know. Writing. Good writing. Not writing about boobs and poo and porn shop conversations. Or about how really drunk I got on Friday night.

So I haven’t sent it to him yet, and now it’s Wednesday, but I’m telling myself it’s because I also haven’t sent him the stories that I’m going to send in my application to the program. I have to fine-tune them first. And THEN I’ll send him the link. And also maybe I’ll be able to write something more substantial by then. Or erase all reference to my boobs or how I let some man grope me on Friday night.

By the way, Penny clarified yesterday that Suspenders Guy didn’t just grope me, he ‘positively molested’ me. Great. I remember him being fairly attractive, but I have this horrible suspicion that without the Vodka-Goggles, he looked like Red Green or something.

Is it just me or doesn’t the word ‘coccyx’ sound vaguely dirty?

Just me, then?

Dear Michelle Branch,

I’m grooving on ‘All You Wanted’ but ever since Mo mentioned that when you say ‘So busy OOOOUTTT there’, you sound like the boys from Hansen, I expect you to break into ‘mmm-bop’ at any second. On the bright side, I hear that they’ve hit puberty now, so you’ve probably got a lock on the prepubescent boy sound for a while, anyway.

Also, how did you score the gig on Buffy? Because you just don’t seem quite that cool. Even so, I just found out that I’m going to your concert in six weeks. So try to lose the Zachness, ok?

Sincerely,
Weetabix

Dear Cubicle Desk,

What the hell is the greasy stuff that you keep getting on my pants? It’s been like two years and you’re still messing with my clothes, but I can’t figure it out. And Shout Wipes just do not take care of that crap. Where is it coming from? Why are you making me feel so inept and stupid?

Also, do you think you could be MORE exposed to the world, the way you’re positioned so my ass faces back into the department? So that when people walk into the department, they get a lovely view of my ass? It’s a feng shui nightmare. I feel like a ham in a butcher’s window. A curvy round sexy kind of ham, but a ham nonetheless.

You’re too low, too. It’s not ergonomically acceptable.

I hate you.

Weetabix

Dear Angeline,

Yes. I picked up ‘buzzquash’ from you the night of your Karaoke Farewell. It was all your influence, baby!

Hugs,
Weet

Dear Ricky Fitts, my beloved TiVo,

I love you. You’re so tasty that I want to lick you.

You are my favorite person in the entire world. The way you care for me. The way you show me Martha Stewart to watch while I’m doing my ab crunches. The way you giggle with glee when I fast forward through her stupid segments, like when she shows us the proper way to make a bed or detail the different kind of caviars. The way you showed me not one but two episodes of Two Fat Ladies that I had never seen and it’s like the Holy Grail of Unhealthy Cooking Shows. The way you allow me to stash them away to savor later and not delete them in favor of Esteban’s Cowboy Bebop stuff. You show me everything that is beautiful and good.

You are perfect. Never change.

Kisses on your hard drive,
Weetabix

Carissa: You know that picture I was telling you about? That’s what it looked like. Only you know… he was a dummy.

Penny: Hookay.

Weetabix: That’s stupid. That’s stupid. No, I’m serious… the pink one is for you…. I know it’s thirty dollars but… you’re worth it… you’re worth it. You’re. Worth. It.

Penny: Oh my god.

Weetabix: I want some handcuffs.

Carissa: (looking at various implements of lust) That’s uncute. That too. Either one. That’s uncute. That either. Uncute.

Weetabix: That’s way too personal.

Carissa: Uncute.

Weetabix: That’s way too personal.

Penny: I would rather see my grandmother fuck chainsaw. Oh my god.

Weetabix: I’m serious. Get yourself a device. Right now.

Penny: No. No. No.

Weetabix: Serious.

Carissa: (Some whispered awed thing that sounds like “numchucks”)

Penny: Yeah. I’m sorry, but that one on top is just way too scary.

Weetabix: The pink thing.

Penny: Yeah.

Weetabix: You want a jelly thing. I’ve learned this from Bad Snake.

Penny: No. Batteries not included, it says.

Creepy Store Guy: We’ll put batteries in it to test it.

Weetabix: Yeah, they put batteries in.

Creepy Store Guy: So you know how it performs in the field… even then (mumble)

Penny: IN the field.

Carissa and Weetabix: (giggle) IN THE FIELD!

Weetabix: You know what I really like? You know what I really like? That they have snacks in here.

Penny: SNACKS!

Weetabix: There’s Cheese-Its in here!

Carissa: So after… so after’

Penny: So when you get hungry’

Weetabix: And that if you need a sna-ok, see Sex in the City? This butterfly thing. This is what —

Penny: What the hell?

Weetabix: (an expert even though she has never actually seen the show) On Sex in the City, it’s the Venus Butterfly that’s what she has.

Carissa: Samantha?

Weetabix: Yeah. Samantha has the Venus Butterfly. I don’t think they have that here. But I think this thing… is the same thing…for 20 bucks.

Carissa: And yet he’s got country…country music. Somehow it should be Chicka Bow Bow Bow!

Creepy Cashier Guy: It’s Vern Gosden.

Weetabix: It just doesn’t so much with the hotness.

Carissa: Yeah, with the hotness. It’s not so much with that.

Weetabix: There are many kinds of glide though. There are many lubricants. And edible UNDIES! You know, I’ll bet they don’t have edible undies in plus size. I bet. I’d be willing to bet.

Carissa: They should.

Weetabix: They fucking should! Look at the boobie mug. Love mask! Oh here’s where the fetish stuff is. Nip clamps. 20 bucks for nipple clamps? That’s ridiculous! Hmmm. (seeing furred hand cuffs) PINK FURRY CLUFFS— CUFFS! ROCK!

Carissa: (holding up a bodiless penis) This is not very long.

Weetabix: How much do you need?

Carissa: I don’t know.

Weetabix: How cavernous are you?

Carissa: Great Caverns. (holding it up to her pelvic region)

Penny: Oh my god!

Weetabix: I can’t believe you just modeled that. You rock. You fricking rock.

Penny: Gawd. Oh gawd. I can’t believe…Heee hee. Where’s your camera when you need it?

Weetabix: You fricking rock.

Carissa: AHAHAHA!

Weetabix: (reading) ‘Lock up your lover.’ It’s pink. I love pink.

Penny: It’s pink. It’s very nice.

Weetabix: I LOVE PINK. Pink is just… You know, those are just sleep masks. They say it’s a love mask but it’s..

Carissa: That is just way way too big. Look at that man’s penis!

Penny: I know! I saw that. I know. It’s just downright huge!

Weetabix: What? Penises?

Carissa: (browsing the shelves)Wrong. Wrong. Wrong. That’s fine. Wrong.

Weetabix: That’s gigantic. There’s no way you could swallow that. I would gag.

Penny: I’m saying.

Carissa: I would so be gagging

Weetabix: Strip checkers?? Ok, now they’re reaching.

Carissa: NO! You know what? Men should not be sucking on other men’s dicks.

Penny: Well I’m sorry Carissa, but that’s’

Weetabix: You know if anyone’s going to know how to do it, a guy would.

Carissa: I’ll give you that.

Weetabix: That’s what I’m saying. You know what’s disturbing. This joy gel actually has the logo removed from it. It’s like it’s been used so much that the logo is worn away.

Penny: Euwwww.Ok.

Weetabix: That disturbs me. But I’m just saying. (looking at a cake mold in the shape of a man’s organ) Or you could make a cake. Pen… seriously

Penny: Yeah?

Weetabix: Seriously…

Penny: Yeah?

Weetabix: You need to get one of these.

Penny: No I do not.

Weetabix: This one’s scary though. It looks like a corkscrew.

Creepy Cashier Guy: With the screw to it, if it gets stuck you can unscrew it

Penny: Oh god!

Weetabix: Ooooooh kay. We don’t need to know about it getting stuck

Penny: Oookay!

Carissa: No stucking. No stucking

Weetabix: Because now you’re frightening us. Because that turns us off. Bad.

Carissa: Bad.

Weetabix: Getting stuck. Ok. Thank you. That was…That was such a buzzquash I can’t even imagine to tell you.

Carissa: That fricking screw thing, that scares me.

Penny: You have to remember I told you that Pete (her soon to be ex-husband) was a pencil dick… I wouldn’t even…

Weetabix: No. You didn’t tell me that

Penny: Well let me tell you that now.

Weetabix: (pointing at a smallish instrument) Like that?

Penny: No, not even that…

Weetabix: No, this…

Penny: Not even

Weetabix: NOT EVEN?! You’re shitting me.

Carissa: Junior, see junior. You know my husband’s actually…

Weetabix: (still aghast at the pencil-size visual) That’s like a middle finger

Carissa: (browsing for comparison to her husband) I’m thinking… (points at a very large one)

Penny: (eyes popping) Is that…Are you serious?

Carissa: No… well… not that wide. That long but not that wide.

Weetabix: I can’t believe we’re talking about this!

Carissa: Well we did stop at a fucking porno shop. Hello?

Weetabix: I know, but seriously… Penny, this I’m thinking for you… ten bucks, it’s ten bucks

Penny: I hear you.

Weetabix: And it’s jelly. I’m telling you, you want a jelly. It’s what Badsnake says.

Penny: And she would know.

Carissa: I’m saying though Badsnake gets off more than perhaps Penny does.

Weetabix: She’s got actually a plethora of toys. She showed them all to me.

Penny: I bet she did.

Weetabix: But I’m telling you…

Penny: (to the Creepy Cashier Guy) Did you show it to her?

Carissa: He had it running. Run it for me again. What’s your name?

Creepy Cashier Guy: I’m Will.

Carissa: Hi Will. You know what, I’m too drunk. You need to do it.

Creepy Will: The black thing turns. Ok, batteries… there you go, ok? one one way, one the other way… and the red is the variable speed control.

Carissa: Up down…. I’m getting hot just thinking about it.

Weetabix: I’m uh…I’m sweating. I want to suck on a lolli-COCK!

Penny: A loll–. HAHAHAHA!

Carissa: OK!

Weetabix: How much is it?

Carissa: $7.95

Weetabix: (to Penny) See, it’s the bargain dildo

Creepy Will: It’s the bargain dildo

Penny: The bargain dildo.

Weetabix: Get the butterfly though, I’m telling you. That is prime!

Penny: It’s not fair being the designated driver.

Weetabix: No it’s not.

Penny: I’m telling you, it’s not fair.

Weetabix: (easily distracted) Super magic fun sleeve! Ok, what are you going to get Penny?

Penny: I’m not. I’m sorry.

Weetabix: I love that they have a dildo with Magical Fairy Princess on it.

Carissa: Where?

Weetabix: Clitoral, vaginal and anal stimulation for my (sounds like ‘navals’)

Penny: Flip that open, we gotta see that.

ALL: Oooooh!!!!!!!!!

Weetabix: Look at the accessories.

Carissa: Oh my god, I’m getting hot.

Weetabix: It’s got a screw again. Those screws are scary.

Penny: That’s like a lot of stuff going on there. You’ve gotta need it.

Weetabix: (reading) Battery operated magical fairy double anal wand. Battery operated dual vibrators with quad power pack, meaning that four batteries are required. Sweet vanilla smooth and delicate personal lubricant’ God forbid it be chocolate! Penny, you gotta get something. I think we’re going to harass you until you get something.

Penny: (looking at a picture of enormous boobs) What do you do with all that?

Weetabix: I do just fine with all that.

Penny: You do not!

Weetabix: No, I don’t have that problem.

Penny: Pick up those giant boobs.

Carissa: Look at that giant penis!

Penny: That’s jumbo.

Carissa: What would you do with that? I’m sorry. That’s wrong.

Penny: What are those?

Carissa: Thank you Sir!

Weetabix: What are those? We get a gift with purchase?

Creepy Will: Biscottis. With a message for you.

Weetabix: I had no idea this was so upscale. Thank you.

Creepy Will: Tell your friends that you got a cookie here, you didn’t get your cookies off here.

Penny: Ok, ok, just A cookie.

Weetabix: I can’t believe this is so exquisite.

Carissa: (looking at the magazine rack) There is so much going on there.

Weetabix: That’s the kind of skirt I want. I mean. Not pulled up like that but you know, plaid like that? A whole magazine. They’ve got a whole magazine dedicated to Shaved? Or 44 plus?

Carissa: (browsing the magazine covers)Right. Wrong. Wrong. Right wrong.

Penny: That looks painful, actually.

Carissa: See, I can’t’

Weetabix: Plumpers? She’s not that plump. Oh, yeah, I guess maybe. She looks like she would have backaches. Right there. And I would not wear those panties. I would not wear those panties at all.

Carissa: Huge nipples. Holy.. I mean, what do you call that?

Penny: Wow, yeah.

Weetabix: Areola

Carissa: Areola. Thank you

Weetabix: I’m getting this weird vibe because of the country

Penny: Uhuh

Carissa: There’s so many girls in here, and guys are’

Penny: That’s because’

Weetabix: This guys got way too many gang symbols on him. This guys not too bad. (hearing ‘wakka chicka wakka chicka’ coming from the back viewing booths) Oh, listen… let’s go back to the booth…

Carissa: No. No. (dragging her out the door)

Weetabix: Dude… He was… he was totally stroking. Did you see that guy? He was totally stroking.

Carissa: Of course he was, that’s the point.

Weetabix: I’m afraid to eat the biscotti.

Penny: Well, it is in a sealed package

Carissa: It is.

Weetabix: It’s going to be in the shape of a penis. I just know it.

That just goes to show what true journalistic integrity I have in that I didn’t alter anything to make it more funny. Instead of ‘Lolli-cock’, it would have been much funnier to say ‘Cock-sicle’. I’m just saying.
